The DT/ER Project that we here at Convex Consulting have been working on since January means quite a bit to me on a personal level. On January 30th, 2017, one of my best friends from high school, Garrett Weatherbee, lost a hard fought battle with cancer. Garrett was a model athlete, a model student, and above all else he was a model human being. Instead of becoming bitter about his illness, he became inspired by it. He wanted to become a civil engineer in order to build better hospitals, and many of the ideas that he had about improving hospitals have been incorporated in our DT/ER designs.

Garrett was also a large advocate for joytothekids, an non-profit organization based in Ashburn, Virginia in which volunteers dress up as Superheroes and Princesses to visit children at local hospitals. While battling leukemia, Garrett dressed up as Captain America to help the children in oncology around him feel better. Inspired by Garrett's selflessness, Convex Consulting has approached DT/ER with a compassionate mindset mindset in hopes that we can design a more comfortable Emergency Room experience for all stakeholders involved.

Convex Consulting is proud to announce that 10% of the profits earned from our DT/ER project will be donated to joyforthekids in Garrett's memory.
